¡La Bufa Panorámica!
¡Qué magnífico!
05.02.2009
This morning I set out to hike to the top of La Bufa to check out a panoramic view of Guanajuato.
La Bufa is an impressive rock formation on the outskirts of Guanajuato. You can hike to the top of this beautiful mountain and along the way see the unique green and purple rocks that were quarried and used to build many of the city’s oldest buildings. The views of Guanajuato and the surrounding countryside from La Bufa’s summit are nothing less than breathtaking.
This is La Bufa from a distance.
I set out at 6:30a.m. because it has been reaching 90 degrees by midday, so I wanted to beat the heat and make it back in time for my daily siesta. I also was unsure exactly how long it would take to hike as it was my first time.
This is the dam in GTO at daybreak.

It is so peaceful early in the morning.

Getting higher.

Unknown shrine on the hike up.

Higher and higher I go.

About 2/3 of the way up, the trials get smaller and smaller and the terrain looks more like this.
Fortunately, there were a couple of caballos ready to show my the way up.
(Please excuse the wind noise at the beginning of the video)
And finally I came to the top of La Bufa!

Unfotunately, the morning haze hadn't burned off yet because it was only 8:30a.m. I'll have to return later in the day for a better shot.
In the meantime, a quick vid-view from atop of La Bufa.

No better spot to chill and read my Zen book!! So peaceful. . . .
